BELFAST – Stephen J. Bukovesky, 82, of Belfast, died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2004, at a Bangor Hospital. Born Dec. 25, 1921, in Bridgeport, Conn., he was the son of Peter and Mary (Chirsky) Bukovesky. He worked for many years as a foreman for Sikorsky Helicopter Co. Steve was interested in music and played the saxophone and clarinet in local dance bands in Connecticut. He loved Maine and the ocean. Stephen served in the Army during World War II in the European Theater. He was a prisoner of War for eight months. Steve was a member of the American Legion of Belfast, the Am Vets of Liberty the DAV and the Ex-POW organization. He was predeceased by his wife, Beatrice (Ard) Bukovesky. Survivors include his daughters, Judith Shute and friend, Dennis Sprague, of Belfast, Janice Rotzal and her companion, Ken Kubel, of Bridgeport, Conn., and Lois Jacovino and her fianc_, Mike Richards, of Belfast; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Also, his close companion, his dog, peaches. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 23, 2004.
