WESTFIELD – Stephen S. Murphy, 51, died Dec. 31, 2006, at a Presque Isle hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born Aug. 26, 1955, in Limestone, the son of Stanley and Goldie (Dyer) Murphy. He worked on area farms, including working for Arthur Gough and Herschel Smith. Stephen enjoyed spending time with his son and grandchildren. He is survived by a son, Ryan and his wife, Stacie, of Frenchville; two brothers, Samuel of North Carolina and Eric of Presque Isle; four sisters, Carla Murphy of Wilkes-Barre, Pa., Glenda Amore of Jim Thorpe, Pa., Barbara Garcia and Shauna Robbins, both of Presque Isle; two grandchildren, Austin and Layne Stanley Murphy; six nephews and three nieces; two former wives, Doris Murphy and Susan Barnes; two wonderful neighbors, Julia and Justine. Relatives and friends may call 1-2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2007, at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Richard Bell officiating. Spring interment will be at Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle. Stephen’s dog “Buddy,” his faithful companion, will be interred with him.
