EXETER and CORINTH Stewart D. Bean, 45, died Nov. 16, 2004, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Oct. 23, 1959, in Dover-Foxcroft, the son of Ralph D. and Rita A. (Downing) Bean. Stewart grew up in Exeter and graduated with honors from Dexter Regional High School. He had worked at Dexter Shoe Co., in Dexter; served three years in the U.S. Army Military Police, serving in Alabama, Germany and Massachusetts, and worked for 10 years under contract with the Department of Defense military radar systems. He also served as a news correspondent for the Eastern Gazette in Dexter. He had belonged to several organizations including the historical societies of Exeter, where he was president; and of Corinth, where he was a member of St. Andrew’s Society of Maine and Clan MacBean, Inc., serving as Northeast Regional Commissioner. He was an avid genealogist, not only researching his own, but helping other families research theirs. He researched the history of Exeter, putting together several books which he donated to the Exeter Town office and also made several donations to special collections at the Fogler Library at the University of Maine. He is survived by his mother, Rita Bean of Corinth; his partner-in-life, Thomas McGuire-Bean of Corinth; one brother and his wife, R. Stanley and Linda Bean of Corinth; two sisters and their husbands, Cynthia and Elwell Hicks of Corinth and Judith and Craig Davenport of Concord, N.H.; three nephews, Christopher, Chad and Corey Bean; four nieces, Cassandra and Michele Collins, Melissa Neal and Tara Davenport. He was predeceased by his father, Ralph D. Bean on Aug. 9, 1992. He will also be missed by his many pets at his home especially his cat, Dorothy. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, at The Thompson Funeral Home, 17 Hudson Road, Corinth, with the Rev. David Bean officiating. Friends may call from 12 noon until the time of services. Burial will be in the Vickery Cemetery, Downing Road, Exeter. Those who wish may make donations to the benefit of the family care of Thompson Funeral Home, 17 Hudson Road, Corinth, ME 04427-3210. The family invites friends and relatives to the home at 221 Tate Road, Corinth, following the service for a time of refreshment and fellowship.
