PRESQUE ISLE – Stuart D. Simpson, 61, died Sunday, May 11, 2008, at a Bangor hospital. He was born March 23, 1947, in Presque Isle, the son of Leo A. and Bertha L. (Adams) Simpson. He worked for a number of years as a trainer and driver in harness racing. Harness racing and bass fishing were his passions. He is survived by his companion, Diane Ashford; her children, Steven and Ryan; four sons, Dale Simpson and his wife, Deanna, Todd and his wife, Tonya, Hubert and Scott Simpson; a brother, Willard Simpson, all of Presque Isle; three sisters, Harriet Simpson of Wheaton, Ill., Dot Ropke of Houlton and Sandra Lathrop of Presque Isle; five grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Willard “Billy” Simpson; three brothers, Dana, Hubert and Loren; and two sisters, Carol Simpson and Fern Faulk. Relatives and friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle. A graveside service will be held 3:30 p.m. Saturday, May 17, at Fairmount Cemetery with Pastor Doug Taubin officiating.
