MILLINOCKET – Sylvain J. King, 80, husband of the late Rita (Levesque) King, died at a local hospital Sunday, Oct. 26, 2003. He was born in Millinocket, Dec. 13, 1922, the son of Max and Annie (Raymond) King. Mr. King served with the Civilian Conservation Corps during 1940. He later entered the U.S. Army, where he served in the Military Police during World War II. He was a member of Donald V. Henry Post No. 80, American Legion, and Francis E. Elliott Post No. 4154, VFW. Mr. King was a communicant of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church. He worked for Great Northern Paper Co. in the wood room for 43 years, retiring in 1980. He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Anne and Terrance P. “Digger” Leavitt of Millinocket; one granddaughter, Hope, and her husband, Nelson Charette, of Millinocket; one sister, Roseanne Allen of Connecticut; several nieces, nephews and in-laws. He was predeceased by several brothers and sisters. Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at R. L. Bouchard Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket. American Legion Post No. 80 will conduct a memorial service at the funeral home 7:30 p.m. Tuesday followed by a memorial service by Post No. 4154 VFW. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2003, at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church. Burial will be in Millinocket Cemetery.
