OLD TOWN – Thelma H. “Tom” Lajoie, 90, wife of the late Maurice L. Lajoie, passed away Monday, Oct. 18, 2004, at an Orono healthcare facility. She was born in Old Town April 10, 1914, daughter of the late Angus and Annie (Labree) Richard. Thelma was a fantastic mother, memere and great-memere. She was a very likeable person who had a dry sense of humor and a zest for life. She was an embroiderer and donated many of her pillowcases to the Holy Family Parish Christmas Fair. She is survived and will be greatly missed by two daughters, Veronica “Vicky” King and her husband, Richard, of Old Town, Phyllis Thibodeau and her husband, David, of Old Town; three grandchildren, Wendy (King) Wheeler and husband, Patrick, Jason and Renee Thibodeau; two great-grandchildren; Tyler and Joshua Wheeler; special sisters-in-law, Lelia Richard of Old Town and Jacqueline Lajoie; brother-in-law, Adrien Lajoie of Lewiston; many nieces and nephews. Thelma’s family would like to send a sincere thank you to all who touched her life and assisted in her care as well as her friends and staff at Orono Commons Health Care Facility. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a son, Philip V. Lajoie; four brothers, Ralph, Leo, Daniel and Everest; two sisters, Arlene (Sr. Mary Veronica) and Pauline Baillargeon. A memorial mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday, at Holy Family Parish in Old Town with the Rev. Normand Richard Celebrant. Committal will be conducted at St. Joseph Cemetery in Old Town following the service. Family and friends are invited to the Holy Family Parish Hall following the burial for a luncheon and continued fellowship.
