BREWER and BANGOR – Thelma Bell, 86, wife of the late Hartley J. Bell, died July 3, 2005, at a Bangor healthcare facility. She was born April 10, 1919, in Orrington, the daughter of Charles and Augusta (Christensen) Prahm. Mrs. Bell was a life-long resident of Bangor, spent summers at her cottage at Lucerne and for 20 years, spent winters in Casselberry, Fla. Mrs. Bell was employed with the Savings and Loan of Bangor for many years, retiring as vice president in 1978. Mrs. Bell was a life-long Rebekah, and member of Vashti Rebekah Lodge, Orrington and served on the state level as president of the Rebecca Assembly of Maine in 1975-1976. She was a former active member of the Grace United Methodist Church, the Altrusa Club and the Queen City Grange. Surviving are one daughter, Donna B. Lawlor and her husband, Bill, of Brewer; six step-grandchildren, Joseph Lawlor, Christopher Lawlor, Ann Dennis, Patricia Kennard, Theresa Lawlor, Kathleen Wellman; seven great-stepgrandchildren; sisters-in-law, Mary Prahm of Connecticut, Virginia Wotton of Bangor; a brother-in-law, Gerald Bell and his wife, Norma, of Falmouth; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2005, at Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer, with the Rev. Kathleen Macedo, pastor of Grace United Methodist Church, officiating. Friends may call 1-2 p.m. Wednesday. Interment will be in Marston Cemetery, Orrington. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Brookings-Smith, Reception Rooms, 55 South Main St., Brewer, following the service.
