BANGOR and FORT KENT Theophil Laurent Lagasse, 78, died peacefully March 17, 2007, at a Bangor hospital. He was born July 6, 1928, in Madawaska, the son of Edward and Agnes (Lausier) Lagasse, Theophil lived in Fort Kent most of his life until moving to Bangor in 2005. He was retired from Maine Public Service and later from the University of Maine – Fort Kent. Theophil enjoyed fishing, gardening, and listening to Big Band, 40s, music. He was a jack-of-all-trades, tinkering around the house, especially with electronics. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He will be remembered as being kind and generous to everyone he met. He was predeceased by his wife, Joan (Michaud) Lagasse in 1997. He is survived by his nine children, Janice Damboise of Bangor, Phil Lagasse and his wife, Jean, of Newport, Gisele Angel and her husband, Kyp, of Alpine, Texas, Paul Lagasse and his wife, Petra, of Hephzibah, Ga., Jackie and her husband, Larry Pelletier, of Orrington, Bernard Lagasse and his wife, Elizabeth, of Fort Fairfield, John Lagasse and his wife, Soo, of Fairfax, Va., Jim Lagasse and companion, Jennifer Hodgens, of Bangor and Dave Lagasse and his wife, Michelle, of Windham; 14 grandchildren, two great-grandsons, several stepgrandchildren; one brother, George Lagasse of Connecticut; five sisters, Corinne Garrett, Anita O’connor, both of New York, Jeanne Lebaeu of Virginia, Maxine Lagasse of Quebec and Norma Maginese of Florida. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by two brothers, Larry and Boy Lagasse; three sisters, Gilbert Fife, Heidi Lagasse and Pauline Henly. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Friends may call 6-9 p.m. Thursday and 9:30 a.m. Friday until time of service at Daigle & Nadeau Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent. Spring burial will be May 11, at the parish cemetery.
