GLENBURN – Theresa Ann-Marie McArthur, 62, wife of the late Freemond McArthur, died Jan. 17, 2008, surrounded by her family, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Sept. 26, 1945, in Marlboro, Conn., the daughter of Dennis and Louise (Flemke) Lavigne. She had been an employee of Dexter Shoe, Dexter, Sprague Electric, Springfield and had received a licensed practical nursing degree at Atlantic Rehab and Nursing Center. She had owned her own lathe mill and also a ceramic shop in Bradford for many years. She retired as a foster mother having had 74 foster children. Theresa had an empowering will to live for her children. She leaves behind Duane Smith and Julie of Milo, David Smith and Joanne of Bradford, Daniel Smith and Penny of Bradford, Darlene Bergeron and Dale of Glenburn, Louise Dugan of Bradford, and Douglas McArthur Jr. and Melissa of Bradford. One of 12 children, she is survived by eight brothers and sisters, 18 grandchildren, including a special granddaughter, Sara McArthur; a great-granddaughter, Charish Plummer, who was very special to her heart; many nieces, nephews and foster children, including a special foster daughter, Krista Kilby. The family thanks the entire community for the excellent care, help and assistance given during their mother’s long illness. Friends may call noon-2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21, at Thompson Funeral Home, 17 Hudson Road, Corinth, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. with the Rev. Donald Booker of Bradford officiating. Spring burial will be at Hillside Cemetery, Bradford.
