THERON ATHERTON TOZIER CLINTON – Theron Atherton Tozier passed away Monday, July 9, 2007, at his home after a long illness. He was born June 16, 1923, in Cornville, the son of the late Raymond and Margaret (Savage) Tozier. After graduating from Skowhegan High School, Class of 1940, Theron served with the U.S. Army during World War II. During his tour of duty, he served in Ardennes, central Europe, Normandy, northern France and Rhineland. He received the American Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, and the Bronze Star for meritorious service during military operations in France, Belgium, Luxemburg and Germany. He and his fellow soldiers received commendation from Gen. George S. Patton. Theron was honorably discharged in 1945 with the rank of corporal. His first wife, Louise (Myshrall) Tozier passed away in 1972. Theron married the former Jeanne Begin, Nov. 29, 1975. He was employed with Central Maine Power and retired with 31 years of service. He was a charter member of the Guilford Masonic Lodge No. 109; a member of the American Legion Bourque-Lanigan Post No. 5, Waterville; member of the Guilford Jaycees; former selectman for the town of Guilford; and served as a volunteer fireman for Guilford for many years as well. Theron enjoyed hunting in his earlier years. He also enjoyed playing solitaire and woodworking with his wife, Jeanne. He was extremely proud of his landscaped lawn, and the grandchildren and great-grand-children loved riding on the lawn tractor with Grampy. In addition to his parents and first wife, he was predeceased by his brothers, Ivan, Leon, Raymond Jr. and Lyle Tozier; his sister, Charlotte Chatfield; and his grandson, Nathan Davis. Theron will be sadly missed by his wife, Jeanne; his children, Donna Raycraft and husband, Joseph, of Concord, N.H., Tom Tozier and wife, Debbie, of Rochester, N.H., Linda Ruksznis and husband, Clair, of Kittery, and Kathy Towle and husband, David, of Bowdoin; step-children, Angie Cote-Davis of Waterville, Tom Cote of West Gardiner, Emily McDonald and husband, Charles, of Madison, and Beth Ferland and husband, Peter, of North Carolina; his brother, Donald Tozier and wife, Donna, of Sidney; 17 grandchildren, 14 great-grand-children, several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Rudy and Paul.
