BAR HARBOR – Thomas Hayes Brown, 39, died March 31, 2005, in Bar Harbor. He was born Nov. 18, 1965, in Detroit, Mich., the son of James R. and Beatrice (Hayes) Brown Sr. Thomas graduated from Mt. Desert Island High School in 1983. He attended the University of Maine in Machias. He belonged to the Kappa Delta Phi Fraternity at the University of Maine in Machias. Over the years, he worked at Kebo Golf Course in Bar Harbor, Northeast Harbor Golf Course and the Causeway Club Golf Course in Southwest Harbor. He coached golf at Mt. Desert Island High School and he also worked as a coach for basketball and baseball at the Emerson School in Bar Harbor. Thomas also worked at the local radio station and was a camp counselor at Camp Skylemar on Sebago Lake. He is survived by his father, James R. Brown Sr. and his stepmother, Joyce Brown, both of Venice, Fla.; one brother, James R. Brown Jr. of Los Angeles; two stepbrothers, Brian Horgan of Pittsburg, Pa. and Chris Horgan of Venice, Fla. Thomas was predeceased by his mother, Beatrice H. Brown; and his grandparents, Harold and Iris Hayes. Friends are invited to call 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2005, at Jordan-Fernald, 48 Eden St., Bar Harbor, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 6.
