IKOMA, JAPAN – Thomas Russell Poole, 58, passed away unexpectedly Sept. 9, 2004, at his home. Mr. Poole was born in 1946, in Milo. He attended Glen Cove Bible College and was a graduate of the University of Maine at Orono and Machias. He completed graduate work in Israel and holds a masters degree in Theological Studies from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, Massachusetts. He was also a teacher in Maine, New Jersey, Florida, Venezuela, Taiwan and Japan. For the past seven years, He was serving as a missionary with Japan Mission as principal and teacher at Kansai Christian School in Ikoma, Japan. He also served three years in Taiwan under SEND International. He taught in New Jersey at DePaul High School, Northwest Christian School and in Vernon and Montague, all while living in the Branchville area. Mr. Poole also served with the National Guard. Mr. Poole was predeceased by his parents, Sheldon and Pearl (Russell) Poole of Maine and Florida. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Barbara (Harris), formerly of Branchville, N.J.; three sons, Matthew, age 18, Timothy, age 17, and Jesse, age 14, all at home in Japan; a sister, Sharon Gellis of Florida; a brother, Richard of Massachusetts; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
