NORTHPORT – Thomas Tyler Abercrombie, 62, died peacefully April 21, 2004, at his home. He was born Aug. 20, 1941, in Rochester, N.Y., the son of Abbott and Jane Carter Abercrombie. He attended South Kent School in South Kent, Conn., was graduated in 1960 from Darien High School, Darien, Conn., and attended the University of Connecticut. Upon moving to Maine, he was involved in commercial fishing ventures for several years. He then managed Dark Harbor Boat Yard on 700 Acre Island. After leaving 700 Acre Island, he moved to Belfast and later became co-owner of Shaw’s Fish & Lobster Wharf in New Harbor. When he retired he lived in Maine and Nevada. He is survived by his wife, Anne (Tangie) Tarbell Abercrombie; his sons, Thomas Gridley Abercrombie, Matthew Abbott Abercrombie; and grandson, Gridley Duncan Abercrombie. A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. May 1, at the First Church in Belfast.
