NEWPORT – Unona Elaine Parsons, 69, died March 28, 2008, at Sebasticook Valley Hospital after a long illness. She was born Sept. 11, 1938, in Hampden, the daughter of Ellison S. and G. Ruth (Porter) Marden Sr. She married Dana Parsons, Nov. 25, 1954, and he predeceased her in 1972. Unona was a wonderful cook and pastry chef. She worked in restaurants in Massachusetts and Maine. She enjoyed camping, fishing, painting pictures and caring for her pets. Unona was an avid member of the Red Hat Society while a resident of Dexter Health Care Facility. She attended Calvary Baptist Church, Pittsfield. Unona was predeceased by her parents, her husband; her brother, Ellison Marden Jr.; and one grandchild. She is survived by two sons, Dana Parsons Jr. of Kenduskeag and Daniel Parsons of Newport; four daughters, Diane Ohmacht of Newport, Donna Bragg of Newport, Darlene Coffman of Dexter and Denise Knight of Knox; three brothers, Stanley Marden of Bangor, Walter Marden of Brooks and Oscar Marden of Newburg; one sister, Sylvia Page of Sabattus; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one uncle, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends and family may call 1 p.m. until time of service 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, at Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Service Center, 34 High St., Newport. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Spring burial will be in the family lot at Dixmont Corner Cemetery, Dixmont.
