NORTH AMITY and HOULTON – Urieal (Dyde) Oliver, 80, died March 20, 2008, at a local health care facility. He was born Jan. 1, 1928, in Houlton, the son of Clarence A. and Beryl (Knapp) Oliver. Dyde served with the U.S. Army Air Corps. He spent his entire life working in the woods, doing it the tried and true way of using a chainsaw and horses. Due to illness, he was forced to retire in 1991. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Jillian “Joy” Oliver of Houlton; three sons, Leslie and his companion, Brenda Taylor, of Houlton, Barry of Cary, and James and his companion, Eileen Oneil, of Corinna; one daughter, Jane and her husband, Mac Moody, of New Limerick; one brother, Allen of Cary; two sisters, Joan Carrier and her husband, Robert, of Scarborough, and Joyce Botting and her husband, Charles, of Oakfield. He is also survived by his very precious grandchildren, Autumn London and Collin Moody; his stepgranddaughters, Margaret, Sarah and Melissa Moody; and one special aunt, Lottie Knapp of Houlton. He was predeceased by his parents; one son, Ronald; and two brothers, Richard and Clarence Jr. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Dunn Funeral Home. Friends may call 10 a.m. until time of service. Interment will be at North Amity Cemetery.
