JONESBORO – Vance M. White, 51, passed away Aug. 19, 2006, after a courageous two month battle with cancer. He was born Dec. 22, 1954, in Machias, the son of Richard and Marilyn (Maker) White. Vance worked as a fuel systems operator at Ridgewood Power. He also owned and operated Crooked Drive Vending since 1996. He was a member of the Warren Lodge No. 2, East Machias, a member of the Anah Shrine and the Mini Car Unit. Vance was a past member of the Jonesboro Volunteer Fire Department and the Machias ambulance department. He enjoyed spending time at his camp on Montegail Pond. Vance also enjoyed ice fishing and four-wheeling, but most of all, he adored his family and was a dedicated family man. In addition to his parents, Vance is survived by his three daughters, DeAnne Taylor and husband, Alan, of Cutler, Ericka Smith and husband, Erik, of Jonesboro and Brittany White of Jonesboro; an exchange student, whom he thought of as a daughter, Paloma Inda of Spain; one grandchild, Kate Taylor; siblings, Patricia Driscoll and husband, Kendall, of Columbia Falls, Terry White and companion, Sharon Cale, of Jonesboro and Allison Tibbetts and husband, Ted, of Jonesboro; several nieces, nephews and many special friends. Visiting hours will take place 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22, at Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, Machias. A private graveside service will be held. Friends are invited to join the family for a celebration of Vance’s life 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23, at the Jonesboro Elementary School.
