HOULTON – Vaughn A. Thompson, 82, died March 30, 2004, at a local healthcare facility. He was born Oct. 30, 1921, at Ludlow, the son of Audbur E. and Lydia Elizabeth (Mersereau) Thompson. Vaughn served in the U.S. Army 4th Infantry Division during World War II. He attended the First Baptist Church and was a member of the American Legion, the 4th Infantry Division Club and the BPOE No. 835. He was owner and operator of Thompson Oil Co. with his brothers, Lester and Ralph, for 20 years and 25 years with GSA. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jean (Estabrook) Thompson of Houlton; two sons, Douglas “Doug” Thompson of Houlton, Audbur “Audie” Thompson and his wife, Ann, of Shelton, Conn.; three grandchildren, Richard Thompson, Micah Thompson and his fianc‚e, Jen Huff, Elizabeth Ann Thompson, all of Connecticut; one brother, Lester Thompson and his wife, Olive, of Houlton; one sister, Audrey Somerville and her husband, Robert, of Presque Isle; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four brothers, Ellery, Laurel, Hibbert and Ralph; one sister, Geraldine Donahue. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Dunn Funeral Home with an Elks memorial service beginning at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Revs. Randall Burns, Arthur Myers and Jon Stratton officiating.
