LINCOLN – Vaughn W. Griffin, 81, died July 31, 2008, at a local health care facility. He was born April 4, 1927, in Castle Hill, the son of Ralph and Mildred (Belyea) Griffin. Vaughn was a graduate of Mapleton High School and a potato farmer in Aroostook County for many years. He moved with his family to Lincoln, where he worked in the sales and service of John Deere tractors and equipment. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Jackie H. Griffin; and his oldest son, Douglas V. Griffin. Surviving him are his wife, Rita of Lincoln; son, Bruce Griffin and his wife, Dolores, of Portland; daughter, Vicki and her husband, William, of Stratham, N.H.; daughter, Peggi and her husband, Carleton, of Lowell, Mass.; daughter, Jan and her husband, Daniel, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; daughter-in-law, Judy Perkins of Presque Isle; stepdaughter, Susan Dreher and her husband, George, of Yarmouth; stepson, Daniel Hall and his wife, Patricia, of Carmel; grandchildren, January Roberts, Brenna Gardner, Meredith Walters, Leslie Walters, William Griffin, Brock Griffin, Russell Griffin, Griffin LeClair and Cindy Rowland; great-grandchildren, Eliza and Sloane Rowland; sister, Virginia Beal and her husband, Gordon, of Orono; sister, Maxine Hotham of Presque Isle; brother, Ralph Griffin and his wife, Sherida, of Orrington; several nieces and nephews. Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. Darrell Joiner officiating.
