CARMEL – Velma I. Day, 72, died July 18, 2004, at Pittsfield after a brief illness. She was born May 15, 1932, in Carmel, the daughter of Roscoe and Eliza (Malone) Day. Velma was a life-long resident of Carmel, and had been living in Dexter for the past year. She enjoyed hiking and going to the races at the Unity Raceway. She is survived by three children, Charles Day and his wife, Debbie, of Hudson, Rose Day of Carmel, and Robert Day and his wife, Robin, of Penobscot; three grandchildren, Rhonda Chapman and her husband, Stanley, Alexander and Ryan Day; one sister, Glennis McSorley and her husband, Earl, of Carmel; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her longtime companion, “Mac” McNaught; two brothers and two sisters. Burial will be private. Cremation arrangements by Cremation Basics, Inc., Bangor.
