PRESQUE ISLE- Vera N. LaPorte, 94, died Feb. 3, 2007, at a Presque Isle health care facility. She was born Oct. 25, 1912, in Adelaide, Pa., the daughter of Scott and Dora C. Colbert. Vera had been employed as a guardette, doing security work for the B & O Railroad during World War II. Later she worked at the Roma Caf? in Presque Isle. Surviving her is a son, James W. LaPorte and his wife, Vickie, of Milwaukee, Ore., their son, Trieste and his children, James, Jeffrey, Philip and Vera; a daughter, Gloria J. O’Lore and her husband, Joe of Presque Isle, their son and his wife, John and Linda O’Lore of Portland, their daughter, Sophia and his daughters, Pamela and Kristen, their daughters and their husbands, Gina and Jack Moorhouse and their children, Ethan and Marisa of Manchester, N.H., and Mia and Rocco Aceto, and their children, Giovanni and Gianna of Oviedo, Fla.; a sister, Mildred Cooley of Ohio; special friends, Helen Clark, Effie Lyons and Mabel MacBride; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
