HAMPDEN – Vergie Merle Violette, 83, beloved wife of Nelson Marcel Violette Sr. passed away Aug. 6, 2006, surrounded by her loving family, at her home. She was the daughter of Michael W. Bergel. Vergie and Nelson were married for 64 years and lived in Hampden where she was a homemaker, and together they raised their six children. She enjoyed traveling and doing crossword puzzles. Vergie will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife and mother. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Nelson Sr. of Hampden; three sons, Nelson M. Violette Jr. of Hermon, David A. Violette and his wife, Cheryl, of Brewer and Michael S. Violette of Hampden; three daughters, Virginia M. Grant and her husband, Norman, of Veazie, Mary L. Ouellette and her husband, Gerard, of Connecticut and Nancy A. Delaney and her fiance, James Story, of Orono; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two brothers, Eric and Basil; one sister, Lorena; and by twin grandsons, Jonathan and Brian. Vergie’s family thanks all of the caregivers from Hospice of St. Joseph for the wonderful care she was given during her illness. Visiting hours will be held noon until time of service 2 p.m. Thursday at the Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden, with the Rev. Thomas F.
