WASHBURN – Verle A. Plissey, 72, died peacefully Aug. 2, 2006, at Cary Medical Center, unexpectedly, with his loving wife and family by his side. He was born May 24, 1934, the son of Arthur Plissey and Lillian (Russell) Plissey. Verle was a graduate of Washburn High School and married his high school sweetheart, Paula (Braddock) Plissey. He lived and farmed on the Tabor Road in Washburn all of his life. He owned and operated his own truck and worked for McCains and United Express Truck Brokerage. Verle worked in sales for Transark Oil and F.B. Harmon and Theriault Equipment selling the very equipment he worked his land with: the John Deere that he loved. Verle had a passion for life and he enjoyed many activities. He loved the land in all respects – ice fishing, hunting and working for farmers in his retirement. The greatest events in his life were watching his children and grandchildren compete in every sport. Verle was a little league coach for each of his son’s teams for many years. He was an intricate part of First Baptist Church in Washburn as a deacon and youth leader. In addition to his wife of 54 years, he leaves five adult children, Loretta and her husband, Paul Harmon, Lorinda Duncan, Lane and his wife, Holly Plissey, Lance and his wife, Sherry Plissey and Leslie and his wife, Wendy Plissey; grandchildren, Matthew Harmon and his wife, Sara, Emily Carter and her husband, Chad, Joel Duncan, Andrea Liebmann and her husband, Spencer, Corey, Jeanette, Dylan, Jacob and Jade Plissey, Lauren and Paige Plissey, Maranda and her husband, Darren, Lane Plissey Jr., and Christopher Plissey; great-grandchildren, Gunnar, Carter, Isaac and Adam Liebmann, Asher Carter, Amelia Donovan and Gabriella Donovan; a special son-in-law, Todd Duncan; a sister, Judy Joe of New Hampshire; along with four nephews, Steven, Brian, Mark and Phillip Jr.; and one niece, Karen. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a grandson, Adam Plissey. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday at the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle, with the Rev. Matthew Braddock officiating. Relatives and friends may call noon until the time of the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Riverside Extension Cemetery, Washburn.
