MONTICELLO – Verna J. Brewer, 93, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Feb. 6, 2008, at The Aroostook Medical Center, Presque Isle. She was born July 7, 1914, in Washburn, the daughter of Miles and Jessie (Carmichael) Peterson. Verna and her husband, Herman, operated a grocery store in Bridgewater. She was a member of Full Gospel Assembly Pentecostal Church, Bridgewater. Verna is survived by a son, Edward C. Boyce Sr. of Monticello; grandchildren, Eugene Boyce and his wife, Tressa, of Presque Isle, Sonja Boyce of Lewiston, Jerry Boyce of Texas, Pam Pennington of West Virginia, Tina Bell of Houlton, Larry Dean Boyce of Bentonville, Ark., Daniel Boyce and his fianc?e, Pauline Somers, of Ellsworth, Diane Emery and her husband, Tyrone, of Cary, Sandra Lee and her husband, Kenny, and Janet Boyce and her fianc?, Fred Botting, of Houlton; several great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Doris Sargent of Monticello. Doris’ devotion and care was gratefully appreciated by her Aunt Verna. Also surviving her are four sisters-in-law, Louise Peterson of Monticello, Margaret Peterson of Bangor, Cora Decatur of York and Marge Brewer of Bridgewater. She was predeceased by her husband, Herman Brewer; a son, Lawrence Boyce and his wife, Donna; two grandchildren, Edward Boyce Jr. and Hilda “Bonnie” Pennington; two brothers, Harold and Burns Peterson; and two sisters, Florence Hersey and Glenna Briggs. Those who wish may make gifts in her memory to the church. Many thanks to grandson, Danny Boyce and his fianc?e, Pauline Somers, Doris Sargent and Louise Peterson, for the wonderful care at the hospital and the doctors and nurses for being so helpful and caring. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday at Bridgewater Full Gospel Assembly with Pastor Frank Randall officiating. Relatives and friends may call noon until the time of the service at the church. A spring interment will be at Smith Cemetery, Bridgewater.
