SOUTHWEST HARBOR – Victoria V. Cousins died Aug. 30, 2006, at a Bar Harbor health care facility. She was born in Steuben, the daughter of Milford and Nettie Mae (Sargent) Coombs and grew up in Winter Harbor. Victoria worked for 28 years at the Jackson Laboratory. She was a member of the Tremont Congregational Church and the Pythian Sisters of Bernard. Known for her Maine humor and kindness to others, Victoria will be missed by many. She is survived by her son, Merle F. Cousins Jr. and his wife, Allie; daughter, Constance C. Worcester and her husband, Mark C., all of Southwest Harbor; one brother, Robert W. Coombs and wife, Leona F., of Steuben; one granddaughter, Julie Leigh Fortner and husband, Michael, of Crown Point, Ind.; three great-grandchildren, McKae Alyce, Adrian Michael and Ethan Shayne Fortner; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Merle F. Cousins Sr.; and a brother, Reginald Coombs. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 3, at Jordan-Fernald Funeral Home, 1139 Main St., Mount Desert. Interment will be at Mount Height Cemetery, Southwest Harbor. At Victoria’s request, contributions in her memory may be made to the Tremont Congregational Church, care of Carol Farley, P.O. Box 6, Bernard, ME 04612.
