MARS HILL – Vinal L. Barnes, 91, went home to be with his Lord, June 16, 2005, at a Bangor hospital. He was born April 22, 1914, in Fort Fairfield, the son of Joseph and Maude (Williams) Barnes. Vinal was employed for many years at the Taft School in Watertown, Conn., as the superintendent of grounds. He was also a long time attendee of the Full Gospel Assembly in Mars Hill. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Lillian Barnes; a special niece who was a daughter by heart, Linda Grass and her husband, Evan, of Mars Hill; a special nephew, Philip Beals and his wife, Dodie, of Presque Isle; a special niece, Jan Beals, of Mars Hill; a sister, Elva Lunn, of Vernon, Conn., and also many other nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by Wallace and Alma Danford, who raised him after his mother died and who were very special to him, several brothers and a sister. Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Saturday June 18, 2005, at the Full Gospel Assembly in Mars Hill with the Rev. Richard Bell, officiating. Friends may call at the church from 2 p.m. until time of service. Interment will take place following the service at Pierce Cemetery.
