SOUTHWEST HARBOR – Virginia R. Dickinson, 80, died Aug. 16, 2004, at her home in Southwest Harbor. She was born Oct. 20, 1923, in Philadelphia, Pa., the daughter of Arthur C. and Ann M. (Smith) Richards Sr. Virginia was a summer resident of Southwest Harbor for 72 years. She was a wonderful painter, a professional artist and horticulturist. She spent many summers making repairs to her home and she enjoyed gardening. Virginia loved swimming and hiking on MDI. She was still tutoring children in Philadelphia at the age of 80. She was active in the altar guild at Grace Epiphany Episcopal Church in Philadelphia and enjoyed going to St. John’s Episcopal Church, Southwest Harbor. Virginia is survived by three children, Pamela Genga and her husband, Richard, of Philadelphia, Pa., Stephen Dickinson of Gwyndd Valley, Pa., and Kenneth Dickinson and his wife, Christine, of Apopka, Fla.; and one grandson, Scott Dickinson. A service of remembrance will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 20, 2004, at St. Andrew’s, St. John’s Episcopal Church, Southwest Harbor, with the Rev. Ann Kidder officiating.
