PATTEN – Virginia E. (Dickinson) Merry, 64, crossed over to the other side of her life to be with her Lord, family and friends that have gone on before her July 17, 2004. She fought a courageous battle with cancer. She was born April 26, 1940, in South Montville, the daughter of Ralph H. and Caro (Gordon) Flanders. In 1959 she married Robert Dickinson of Island Falls. They were married 33 years and raised four children. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and sister, her family always came first. She attended the Pentecostal Church in Patten. She is survived by her second husband, Marshall Merry of Patten; two daughters, Roberta Rogers and her significant other, Harry Billington, of Dexter and Bonnie Parks and her husband, Terry, of East Corinth; two sons, Frank Dickinson and his significant other, Luanne Brooks, of Patten and Robert Dickinson Jr. of Woodville and his significant other, Ruth Muise, of Mattawamkeag; two step children, Michael Merry and his significant other, Karen McCall, of Carmel and Glenda Whitney and husband, Fred, of Patten; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and Rebecca McNinch whom she thought of as a daughter; one brother, Kermit Flanders of South Montville; two sisters, Barbara Brown and husband, Forrest, of West Appleton and Glenice Lenfest of Northport; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Flanders of Northport; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents; three brothers, Lloyd, Burleigh and Wilfred. Friends may call 10-11 a.m. Thursday at the Bowers Funeral Home, Island Falls, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Tom Chandler officiating. Interment will be in Patten Cemetery. A time of fellowship will follow at the Stetson Memorial United Methodist Church, Patten.
