HOLDEN – Virginia Eileen (Lee) Goodness, 76, wife of the late Donald F. Goodness Sr., died Oct. 9, 2005, at a Brewer healthcare center after a long illness. She was born Dec. 12, 1928, in Bangor, the daughter of Charles P. and Mittie E. (Jellison) Lee. Virginia attended Bangor High School and married Donald Jan. 4, 1947. She worked at Freese’s Department Store for many years. She was a member of the Eddington Extension Club, the Plant and Prayer Garden Club, St. Joseph Church, Brewer, The Penobscot Conservation Club and the Eddington Conservation Club. She loved making crafts, bowling and playing cards. Donald and Virginia resided in Holden for more than 30 years. She is survived by four children, Pamela Clark and her husband, Clyde, of Norway, Donald Jr. and his wife, Jane, of Holden, Suzanne St. Heart and her husband, Ed, of Holden, James and his wife, Jane Philbrick of Stillwater; one brother, Perley Lee of Middleton, N.H.; two brothers-in-law, Richard Goodness and John “Jack” Goodness; 10 grandchildren, Charles Clark and his wife, Heather, of Lewiston, Leigh Ann Elliott and her husband, Rick, of Brewer, Michelle Valcourt and her husband, Scott, of Berwick, Lisa Johns and her husband, Evan, of Pensacola, Fla., Erik Goodness of Westbrook, Brian Goodness and his girlfriend, Ashley Ruggles, of New Bedford, Mass., Matthew Clark and his wife, Dawn, of Norway, Emily Goodness of Brewer, Steven Clark of Norway and Kate Goodness of Stillwater; six great-grandchildren, Anthony Moore of Brewer, Gregory and Elizabeth Valcourt of Berwick, Charles Bradrick of Lewiston, Annalisa Clark of Lewiston and Olivia Goodness of New Bedford, Mass.; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband in December 2004; her parents, one sister, Eleanor Getchell; and three brothers, Harold, Roland and Dick Lee. Friends may visit 6-8 p.m. Friday at Kiley Funeral Home, 69 State St., Brewer, where a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Joel R. Cyr, pastor of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Brewer, officiating. A reception will follow at St. Joseph Parish Hall. Burial at Clewleyville Cemetery, Holden, will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Penobscot Conservation Club Association, care of Nancy Hatch, P.O. Box 605, Brewer, ME 04412.
