WALDO – Virginia “Ginny” (Curtis) Ramsey, 70, died unexpectedly Feb. 8, 2007, at a Bangor hospital. She was born April 8, 1936, in Belfast, the daughter of Clifford M. and Rena M. (Smith) Curtis. Ginny married her high school sweetheart, Kenneth R. Ramsey, June 19, 1955. Ginny and Ken graduated from Crosby High School, Belfast, in 1954. She attended Farmington State Teachers’ College. Ginny worked as a teller for Merrill Trust Bank, Belfast and for most of her working career, in the Waldo County office of the University of Maine Cooperative Extension Service, retiring after 33 years of service. Ginny and Ken enthusiastically pursued all types of outdoor activities, including boating, camping, fishing, hunting and photography. In recent years, Ginny pursued great adventures, traveling with her sister and other members of her family. She was a member of the former Belfast Lioness Club, enjoyed quilting, was active in the Senior College at the Hutchinson Center and an avid genealogy buff. She took pride in her flower gardens and greatly enjoyed daily walks with her dog, Bess. Ginny was predeceased by her parents; and her husband, Ken. She is survived by two daughters, Susan A. Blais and her husband, Nap, of Waldo and Nancy E. Clark and her husband, Keith, of Belfast; three grandchildren, Adam R., Sara A. and Megan M. Clark, all of Belfast; a sister, Lillian M. Little and her husband, Ray, of Newport; brothers, Brian M. Curtis and his wife, Cynthia, of North Fork, Calif., and Steven M. Curtis and his wife, Joanna, of Belfast; sister-in-law, Joyce Lovely of Rhode Island; and brother-in-law, Roger Ramsey and his wife, Becky, of Norton, Mass., and an extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13, at the United Methodist Church, Mill Lane, Belfast, with a reception of remembrance immediately after the service at the same location. Those who wish may make a donation in Ginny’s memory to the Rena Whitney Scholarship Fund, care of the Waldo Town Office. Arrangements are under the care of Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast.
