MACHIAS – Virginia “Ginnie”, “Nana” J. Pennell, 90, passed away April 13, 2007, at an Ellsworth hospital, after an extended illness. She was born June 24, 1916, the daughter of the late Charles and Grace (Richardson) Jordan. Virginia enjoyed knitting, crocheting and doing crossword puzzles. In earlier years, she took great joy in spending time with her family at Fulton Lake. Ginnie also enjoyed playing cards with her friends at Valley View Apartments. She especially adored the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her four children, Darrell Pennell and wife, Norma, of Crawford, Beverly Smitherman of Marshfield, Bruce Pennell and wife, Joyce, of Manchester, Conn., and Perry Pennell and wife, Naida, of Northfield; 10 grandchildren, Brian, Gary, Debra, Stephen, Timothy, Aimee, Heather, Deana, Trevor and Nicholas; 11 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Virginia Foss; many nieces, nephews and all of her friends at Valley View Apartments. She was predeceased by her husband, Fred “Ted” Pennell in 1972. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, April 28, at Jacksonville Cemetery, East Machias.
