PITTSFIELD – With sadness in our hearts, the family of Virginia Marie Jensen, 78, would like to share the news of her passing Wednesday morning May 10, 2006, at Maine Medical Center, after a brief illness, surrounded by family. Virginia was born in Boston, Mass. She attended a local parochial school for eight years before going to Winthrop High School. Virginia was an avid reader. As a resident of Pittsfield, she was a frequent visitor to the Pittsfield Public Library and was often seen there with her grandchildren. Virginia spent most of her life as a homemaker, her family was what she cherished and loved the most. She was proud and grateful for the family in her life and often expressed that with compliments and heart felt kindness. She openly shared her thoughts and opinions with enthusiasm. Her knowledge of past and current events provided her with a wealth of information, which she was always willing to share with others. Humor was important to Virginia; hers often took us by surprise. With encouragement, she was always willing to try new things, and underneath had an adventurous spirit. Virginia was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grand-mother. She loved to socialize and to go to family gatherings. She never missed the opportunity to attend her grandchildren’s sporting events. Each season of the year also provided Virginia with new opportunities to share her enthusiasm for her favorite sports teams. Virginia enjoyed following the New England Patriots and would always call around to make sure everyone was informed of game times and stats. At every occasion she was known to have her camera with her, taking pictures. She then gave those pictures to others in the family, those close and far away. Virginia was in touch with all of her family, and knew what was happening in their lives. She kept the family connected. Virginia remembered every special occasion for her family and friends. She always wrote letters, sent cards and made special telephone calls and was known for saying “I wanted to be the first to call …” Virginia will be best remembered by the way in which she touched her family and friends, with her thoughtfulness, and by remembering this we are keeping her legacy alive. Her five children, Joseph Muzquiz, Mary Hall of North Carolina, Evelyn Muzquiz of New Hampshire, Christinia Williams and her husband, Daniel, of Richmond, James Jensen and his wife, Laurie, of Pittsfield, survive her. Her sister, Rosemarie Killen of Massachusetts survives her. Virginia’s 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren survive her. She was predeceased by her late husbands, Joseph Musquiz and James Alfred Jensen Sr. She was also pre-deceased by her son, Carey Jensen. There will be a private service for family and close friends. For those wishing to remember Virginia Jensen, in lieu of flowers, we would ask that you make a contribution in her name to the Pittsfield Library Building Fund, P.O. Box 53, Pittsfield, ME 04967. Arrangements are entrusted to Donald H. Shorey Funeral Chapel, Pittsfield.
