PENOBSCOT – Wade Lovejoy Harper, 43, died March 27, 2007, while on assignment in Nantong, China. He was the loving husband of Lynn M. Harper and devoted father of Jacob, 5 years, Joshua, 3 years and Kiera, 2 years. He was born Dec. 21, 1963, in Bar Harbor, the son of Seth A. and Gwendolyn (Lovejoy) Harper Jr. Wade graduated from Mount Desert Island High School in 1982. He joined the family business and was a painter and contractor until the age of 32, when he decided to go back to school. Wade and Lynn had met in 1992 and were married Aug. 12, 1995. Lynn supported Wade as he went through Maine Maritime Academy, Castine, graduating in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science in nautical science. He had been employed by Seacor Holdings, Inc. and at the time of his death, held the position of 2nd mate on the Seabulk Trader. He was well respected and loved by his family, friends, shipmates and captain. He had been a former member and captain trainer of the Tremont Volunteer Fire Department, an emergency medical technician with Southwest-Tremont Ambulance Service and president of Mount Desert Island Search and Rescue. Wade had been attending the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Bucksport. Calling hours will be held 4-6 p.m. Sunday, April 15, at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth, with an opportunity for friends to share memories 5 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10 a.m. Monday, April 16, at St. Vincent de Paul, Catholic Church, Federal Street, Bucksport. Spring interment will be at Bayside Cemetery, Penobscot. Contributions in Wade’s memory may be made to a scholarship fund for his children’s needs at Union Trust Company, P.O.
