FORT FAIRFIELD – Walter E. La Valley, 83, died Sunday morning, March 11, 2007, at a Caribou health care facility, after an extended illness. He was born April 27, 1923, in Dickinson, N.Y., the son of George and Elizabeth (Duprey) La Valley. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II and was a Pearl Harbor survivor. In addition to his parents, Mr. La Valley was predeceased by his wife, Mary Lou (Monson) La Valley. He is survived by two sons, Jay La Valley of Presque Isle and Ray La Valley of Baltimore, Md.; one daughter, Charlotte La Valley of Norristown, Pa.; one brother, George La Valley of North Lawrence, N.Y.; one sister, Ida La Valley of California; two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. In keeping with Walter’s wishes, there will be no services. Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield, later in the spring. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Mr. La Valley to a charity or organization of their choice. Arrangements are in the care of Dorsey Funeral Home, Fort Fairfield.
