CALAIS and ADDISON – Walter N. Batson III, 44, died unexpectedly as the result of an accident Aug. 13, 2005. He was born Nov. 13, 1960, in Bangor, the son of Walter Jr. and Alberta (Chambers) Batson of Addison. He graduated from Narraguagus High School, and attended the University of Maine in Machias. Walter worked as a mason for many years and more recently enjoyed working as a lobster fisherman and a co-owner of Caler Cove Lobster Cooperative in Addison. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, ice fishing, traveling, his camp at Cathance Lake, Miami Dolphins, scuba diving in the tropics and especially lobster fishing out of Addison on his boat the “Blue Devil”. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Brenda (McClure) Batson; six brothers, James and his wife, Valerie, William and his wife, Vicky, Thomas and his wife, Sheila, Elliott and his wife, Lena, Adrian and his fianc?e, Julie Barnes, Frank and his wife, Stephanie, all of Addison; seven sisters, Gloria Frisbee and her husband, Dennis, Joan Call and her husband, Leonard, Ruth Johnson and her husband, Ralph “Bub”, all of Addison, Donna Smith and her husband, Stanley, of Jonesboro, Ellen Burke and her fianc?, John Spox, of Bangor, Cindy Campbell and her husband, Al, of Millinocket, Theresa Wilber and her husband, Stanley, of Columbia; special nephew, Ben Pierce of Houlton; special nephew, Ty Batson and his wife, Lorena, of Addison; special niece and nephew, Anna and Anthony McClure of Alexander; mother-in-law, Frances McClure of Cooper; sister-in-law, Gail Cleary and her husband, Bob, of Houlton; brother-in-law, David McClure and wife, Dawn, of Alexander; several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, his canine companion, Baylee and many, many friends. He was predeceased by his parents and father-in-law, Paul McClure. Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, 6 Cooper St., Machias. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, at the Faith United Methodist Church, Route 1, Columbia, with the Rev. James Buckman officiating. In lieu of flowers a scholarship fund has been established in Walter’s name. Donations may be made to any Machias Savings Bank location.
