BANGOR and ORONO – Warren Greenleaf Strout, M.D., died Oct. 19, 2005, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Jan. 3, 1921, in Garland, the son of Arthur C. Strout, M.D. and Mabel P. Strout. Dr. Strout graduated from Dexter High School in 1939, the University of Maine, Class of 1943, and the George Washington University Medical School. He served in the U.S. Navy as a flight surgeon from 1946-1949. Dr. Strout was appointed as an anesthesiologist to the medical staff of Eastern Maine General Hospital in 1953, and became chief of Anesthesiology in 1971. He served as President of the Medical Staff from 1964-1966. In 1968, he became a member of the Corporation of Eastern Maine General Hospital. He was a member of the Board of Trustees of the hospital from 1969-1977. Dr. Strout retired from the practice of medicine in 1985. He is survived by his wife, Norma, of Orono; five daughters, Stephanie Graves and her husband, Samuel, of Bangor, Cynthia Strout and her husband, William Morse, of Anchorage, Alaska, Sally Carlisle and her husband, William Unertl, of Orono, Patricia Hoffman and her husband, Howard, of Danville, Ky. and Kathryn Wagner and her husband, Peter, of York; 10 grandchildren, Matthew Woodman, Emily Adams, Tyler and Sarah Carlisle, Devin and Nora Morse, Erin, Molly and Seth Wagner and Sophie Hoffman; three step-grandchildren, Ami Porter, Patrick Graves and Althea Unertl; two great-grand-daughters, Emma Woodman and Hayden Adams. The family welcomes relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at a gathering 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, at the Brookings-Smith Family Center, 163 Center St., Bangor.
