BRADFORD – Warren L. Strout went home to be with the Lord peacefully July 23, 2008, surrounded by this loving family. He was born and was raised in Bradford, Aug. 28, 1920, to F. Leigh and Stella (Williams) Strout. Warren lived a full and rewarding life. He and his wife worked side by side providing a loving and happy home for their children, extended family and friends. He had a great love and passion for horses and baseball. He had many accomplishments and awards, including playing on several baseball leagues. His achievements included a 55-year Masonic Service Award from Olive Branch Lodge 124, Charleston, and he also served as a selectman for the towns of Hudson and Bradford. Warren enjoyed working with his wife at his side successfully in the horse training trade. He belonged to several organizations and received many awards, which include, USTA, DHA, served as president of the DEHHA and director of MHHA. He also received trainer awards and outstanding driver awards. His expertise and extensive knowledge of horses was well known and respected throughout the circuit. His storytelling and jokes were the heart of family gatherings. Anyone who had the pleasure of crossing paths with him knew that his sense of humor and wit were without measure. Closest to his heart and will be lovingly missed and forever remembered by his devoted wife of 62 years, Lillian (Babb); his children, son, Stephen and Bonnie Strout of Bradford; daughters, Lucretia and Derryl Niles of Lincoln, Gail and Sterling Smith of Dover Foxcroft, Iona and Walter Young of Alton, Wanita and Robert Allen, Pamela and Eugene Dwyer, Terrie-Sue and Tom Allen, all of Bradford, and Bonnie Rae and Allen Chase of Glenburn; his sisters, Geneva and Phillip Allen of Bradford, Roberta and Lester Bean of Kenduskeag, Joyce Mailman of Corinth; sister-in-law, Elaine Strout of Bradford; brother-in-law, Wayne and Helen Babb of Orono; sisters-in-law, Gloria Hawkins and Betty Sabine of Florida, and Avis Babb of Alton. He was a cherished grandpa to his 31 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He will be joining his loved ones that went before him, parents, Leigh and Stella; son, Teddy; daughter, Patty Brasslett; brother, Robert; sister, Rebecca Miles; and grandson, Eric Niles. Warren’s family expresses their thanks and gratitude for the care and friendship extended to him and the family to the Maine Veterans’ Home, C-unit, Bangor. Friends are invited to visit with the family 6-8 p.m. Saturday, July 26, at Charleston Pentecostal Church, Charleston, where services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday. Services in care of Thompson Funeral Home, 17 Hudson Road, Corinth.
