DIXMONT – Wayne E. Hustus, 66, died unexpectedly at his residence March 22, 2004. He was born April 9, 1937, at Pittsfield, a son of Chellis and Grace (Sprague) Hustus. Wayne was a past member of the Dixmont Fire Department. He was a member of the Odd Fellows and the Lion’s Club, and was a life member of the North American Hunting Club. He enjoyed hunting and camping; especially time spent visiting with friends old and new around a roaring campfire. He also collected model cars. He retired in 1997 from Ryder Rental Company of Portland as a mechanic. He was currently employed part time by Motor Supply Company in Newport. He is survived by his wife, Clarice (Sylvester) Hustus of Dixmont; a daughter, Nancy Armstrong and husband, Gary, of Pittsfield; five stepchildren, Linda Holmes and husband, William, of Belfast, Sharon Corson and husband, Gordon, of Winslow, Mark Emery and wife, JoAnne, of North Windham, Timothy Emery and friend, Connie Wilson, of Hosford, Fla.; four sisters, Flora Hustus of Belfast, Christine Ridley of Brooks, Gloria Brown and husband, Clayton, of Stetson, and Stella Smith of Pittsfield; 17 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a son-in-law, Bruce Harris of Dixmont. He was predeceased by a stepdaughter, Peggy (Emery) Harris. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 27, at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main St., Newport, with Pastor Al H. Worden officiating. Spring interment will be in Highland Cemetery, Carmel. Memorial donations may be made in his memory to the Lions Club, care of Mr. Percy King, P.O. Box 203, Searsport, ME 04974.
