DEXTER – Wayne F. Mayo, 75, died Oct. 24, 2005, at a Dover-Foxcroft hospital. He was born Aug. 19, 1930, at Farmington, a son of Clement and Kathryn (Kyes) Mayo. He graduated from Wilton Academy and for a brief time, chauffeured for Harold Alfond. Wayne served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He then attended the Lynn (MA) School of Pattern Making, working as a shoe pattern maker for Norwalk Shoe Factory in Norridgewock and later, for Dexter Shoe Company. Wayne was a member of the Dexter Club and the Wassokeag Snowmobile Club. He was an avid golfer, outdoorsman, and also enjoyed flying his plane. He is survived by his wife, Joan (Cook) Mayo of Dexter; his mother Kathryn Mayo of Bedford, N.H.; a son, Gary Mayo of Carrabasset Valley; a daughter, Pamela Annis and husband, Roger, of Harmony; two grandchildren, Nichole Annis and Joshua and wife, Tricia Annis; five great-grandchildren Alexis, Kayli, Brayden, Tyler and Hunter; two brothers, Terry Mayo of Amherst, N.H. and Stephen Mayo of Lyman. There will be no services at this time. The family would like to thank a special friend Janet for her long and faithful service.
