OLD TOWN – Wayne Fredrick Jackson, 62, passed away Aug. 28, 2006, surrounded by his loving family after a short battle with cancer, at his home. He was born Dec. 24, 1943, in Old Town, the son of Willie and Charlotte (Horne) Jackson. Wayne was a past master of the Star in the East Lodge No. 60 AF & AM of Old Town, was a member of the Scottish Rite, Anah Shrine, a former member of the York Rite and a member of the Mechanics Lodge No. 66 of Orono. Wayne worked as a carpenter for Ned Smith & Son for many years. Wayne loved the outdoors and spending time at his hunting camp and fishing with his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Doris E. Jackson of Old Town; and four children, Kellie Jackson and her life partner, Michael Mitchell, Diana (Fletcher) McKay and her husband, Scott, of Old Town, Denise (Fletcher) Sullivan and her husband, Gary, of Old Town and Brent Fletcher and his wife, Amy, of Old Town. Papa will be sadly missed by his nine grandchildren, Danielle (Sullivan) Madden and her husband, Nick, of Old Town, Greg Sullivan of Bradley, Chelsea Sullivan of Old Town, Joshua McKay of Milford, Jessica McKay of Stanhope, N.J., Kaelee Fletcher, Tori Fletcher of Orono, Shayne and Tiannah Fletcher of Old Town; and his father, Willie Jackson and his companion, Marguerite Adams, of Veazie. Wayne will be greatly missed by his brother and best friend, Elwyn Jackson and his wife, Sharon, of Veazie; brother, Mahlon Jackson and his wife, Betty, of Old Town; and a half sister, Cheryl Paine and her husband, Jeff, of Holden. Additionally he is survived by a special niece, Sherrie Patterson; loving nieces, Barbara Smith and Susan Jackson; and many friends. In addition to his mother, he was predeceased by one son, Allen H. Fletcher; and half brother, Andrew J. Jackson. The Jackson family thanks Dr. Ritter, his staff and Hospice of Eastern Maine. A graveside service with Masonic honors will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, at St. Joseph Cemetery, Old Town, with the Rev. Ronald Chaffee, pastor of the Old Town United Methodist Church, officiating.
