WAYNE LYNDON MOORE CITRUS HEIGHTS Calif. and NORRIDGEWOCK – Wayne Lyndon Moore, 78, died Aug. 7, 2004, in Citrus Heights, Calif., at the home of his daughter, Vicki, just 11 months after his dear wife, Clara Kinsman Moore, passed away. They were married for 56 years. He was born June 8, 1926, in Norridgewock, the son of Myrtelle Soule Moore Roy and Lyndon Rodney Moore. A graduate of Norridgewock High and Farmington State Teachers College, Wayne taught school for over 40 years. He was a teaching principal in Hartland, Corinna, and Eliot. He taught special education in Hartford, Conn., for 23 years until he retired. He was a union steward for A.F.T.A. A World War II veteran, Wayne served in the Navy as a bugler and a pharmacist’s mate on the U.S.S. Botetourt. His ship was in the harbor to observe the signing of the peace treaty in 1945 that ended the war. He was a member of the American Legion, Elks Club, Moose, Masons and V.F.W. One of Wayne’s greatest joys besides his love of family and friends was being an accomplished trumpet player. He played in marching bands as a boy and orchestras and dance bands all of his adult life. He played big band, swing, pop and his favorite, Dixieland, throughout New England. He loved being on the bandstand. Wayne is survived by his five children, Vicki Moore Moschella of Citrus Heights, Calif., Susan Moore Potter of Tracy, Calif., Roger Wayne Moore of Sacramento, Calif., Brian Moore, of Madison, and Alan Moore of Carmichael, Calif.; two half-sisters, Eleanor Moore Huard of Madison, Linda Moore Marton of South Windsor, Conn.; two half brothers, Manfred (Mannie) Moore and Rodney Moore of Norridgewock; seven grandchildren, one great-grandson; several very special cousins, nieces, nephews and many lifelong friends. A memorial service will be held graveside at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, at McAllister Cemetery, Dover-Foxcroft, with the Rev. Neil Gastonguay officiating.
