ADDISON – Will James died peacefully with his wife at his side Feb. 9, 2005, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Aug. 11, 1932, in Ossining, N.Y., the son of Evelyn (Pape) James and Wilbert H. James. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Rita Mae (Muckenhoupt) James; two daughters, Donna Lynn James of Weare, N.H., and Ruth Anne Gallup and her husband, Ted, of Sunapee, N.H.; two grandchildren, Robert A. Gallup and Amelia Mae Gallup of Sunapee, N.H.; and a brother, Reid S. James of Crete, Ill. Will graduated from Ossining High School and attended Syracuse University. He served with the U.S. Army in Korea from 1950-1952. Will owned businesses in electronics, construction, photography, and video during his life, retiring upon the sale of Hi Tech Video. Hi Tech Video produced programming for the cable channels in New London and Warner, N.H., which included a weekly news program and play by play coverage of Kearsarge High School sports. He was a founder and chairman of the board of directors of the first public transportation system (bus) in Sullivan County, N.H., which subsequently became Sullivan County transit. He was a former president of the Newport, N.H. Rotary Club and Rotary International District 7870 governor in 1981. He served as a delegate to the Rotary International Council on Legislation and team leader of the Group Study Exchange to England in 1986. He sang in church choirs, was a former co-chairman of the Area Choir in Newport, N.H. and a former member of SPEBSQSA singing with the North Country Chordsmen in Hanover, N.H. He enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, hunting, and fishing. He was a member of the Milbridge-Cherryfield Rotary Club, VFW Post No. 11553 and American Legion Post No. 8. A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. Feb. 19, 2005, at Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, Milbridge, officiated by the Rev. Dana Kennedy. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Mary Dow Cancer Center, 50 Union St., Ellsworth, ME 04605.
