EASTPORT – William Robinson Flagg, 96, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007, at Eastport Memorial Nursing Home. William was born May 19, 1911, in Eastport, son of the late William and Ada (Powell) Flagg. Bob graduated from Shead High School, Class of 1928 and New England Institute, where he majored in mortuary science. William was the third generation owner and operator of Flagg Funeral Home and Flagg Furniture Store, Eastport. Bob was a member of Blakey Memorial United Methodist Church, where he served as treasurer for several decades, and the Knights of Pythias. William enjoyed gardening, boating and hunting. He was predeceased by his wife, Edith (Roop) Flagg; a son, Richard Flagg; two brothers, Archer and Phillip Flagg; and a sister, Corinne Anderson. Surviving are two sons, William Flagg Jr. and his wife, Janice, of Sedgwick, and Allan Flagg and his wife, Judith, of Eastport; six grandchildren, Dawn Flagg and her husband, James Cassida, of Freeport, Scott Flagg and his wife, Yolanda, of Kirkland, Wash., Karen Flagg of Atlanta, Robert Flagg of Eastport, Richard Flagg and his wife, Elaine, of Scarborough, and Keith Flagg of Montreal; two great-grandchildren, Emily and Noah Flagg; a nephew, Bill Anderson of Florida; a niece, Joan Flagg of Eastport; and his longtime companion, Virginia Chaffey. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday at Mays Funeral Home – Flagg Chapel, 72 High St., Eastport. A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Saturday at Blakey Memorial United Methodist Church, 74 High St., East-port. Burial will be after the service at Bayside Cemetery.
