JONESBORO – Robert J. Skinner, 53, passed away unexpectedly Oct. 31, 2007, at his home. Born Dec. 30, 1953, in Bridgeport, Conn., Robert was a resident of the Bridgeport, Conn., area for most of his life. He was a former driver for Standard Oil Co., before retiring to Maine due to illness. Bob was like an uncle to everyone who knew him. Most people referred to him affectionately as “Uncle Bob.” He had a heart of gold and was always there for anyone who needed him at a moment’s notice. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially boating and fishing in Downeast Maine. He will be greatly missed. Robert was predeceased by his mother, Sophie (Pilat) Skinner. He is survived by his father, Walter J. Skinner of Jonesboro; his sister, Elaine Cimmino and her husband, Louis, of Monroe, Conn.; brother, James M. Skinner and his wife, Barbara, of Newbury, N.H.; brother, John Skinner and his wife, Helena, of Shelton, Conn.; a nephew, Matthew Skinner; nieces, Elizabeth Parker, Christine Sorrentino, Jessica McDougal and Kayla Skinner; and three great-nieces. Robert had received a kidney donation several years ago, which extended his life. The family especially thanks the Connecticut Organ Bank and all those who donate for the special gift of life that they are able to provide. A service of remembrance will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, Machias.
