SOUTHINGTON, Conn. – William D. Hackett, 79, of Thistle Lane, died Sunday, March 9, 2008, at Hartford Hospital. He was the husband of Christine (Nash) Hackett. Born July 2, 1928, in Bangor, he was a son of the late William D. and Ethel M. (Towle) Hackett. William was a veteran serving with the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, the occupation of China and Korean War. He was a graduate of the University of Maine, Orono, and retired from The Home Insurance Co., Wallingford, Conn. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Will Hackett and his wife, Kristi Venditti, of Gilpin County, Colo., Kathleen H. Rubin and her husband, Keith, of Wilton, and Patrick K. Hackett of Lancaster, N.H.; three sisters, Helen Weatherbee of Bangor, Eileen Foley of Lakeland, Fla., and I. June Smith of Winterport; three grandchildren, William Noel Hackett, Kurt B. and Kyle H. Rubin; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Margaret Hackett and Mary Getchell; and a brother, James Hackett. Funeral services will be held 9:15 a.m. Thursday, March 13, from DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 North Main St., Southington, Conn., and 10 a.m. Mass of Christian burial at St. Dominic Church, 1050 Flan-ders Road, Southington, Conn.
