FORT FAIRFIELD – William H. Shrout, 51, husband of Lucy A. Shrout, died Sunday morning, April 9, 2006, at his Fort Fairfield residence, after an extended illness. He was born Sept. 4, 1954, at Houlton, the son of Donald and Millicent (Cole) Shrout. William attended Houlton and Presque Isle schools and had been employed in the construction industry for many years. He was married to Lucy A. Theriault Nov. 27, 1976. William enjoyed many outdoor activities including fishing, camping and NASCAR racing, and had participated in many racing events at Spud’s Speedway in Caribou and several other speedways in Maine and New Brunswick and also took part in many demolition derbies. He was predeceased by his parents and is survived by his wife of 29 years, Mrs. Lucy A. (Theriault) Shrout of Fort Fairfield; two daughters, Shanon and Amanda Shrout, both of Fort Fairfield; two brothers, David Shrout of Ashland, Michael Shrout of Houlton; two sisters, Sandra and Patricia Shrout, both of Houlton; several nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews. He will be dearly missed by his mother-in-law, Winnie M. Theriault of Fort Fairfield; and a special great-nephew, Ryan Tysinger of Titusville, Fla. A graveside service of committal will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, April 15, at the St. Denis Catholic Cemetery, Fort Fairfield, with the Rev. Mark Babin and the Rev. Jean-Paul Labrie officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to share continued fellowship and refreshments at the VFW Paul Lockhart Post No. 6187, Presque Isle Street, Fort Fairfield, immediately following the graveside service. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in memory of Mr. Shrout to his family, P.O. Box 746, Fort Fairfield, ME 04742, to be donated in accordance to their wishes. Arrangements are in the care of the Dorsey Funeral Home, Fort Fairfield.
