OLD TOWN – William M. Bailey Jr., 78, died peacefully at his residence, Sept. 6, 2005. He was born April 14, 1927, in West Bath, a son of William Sr. and Bessie (Larabee) Bailey. He was a graduate of Morse High School and Thomas College. He was a World War II veteran having served with the U.S. Navy. Bill was employed as a store manager and as a truck driver for many years. He is survived by his companion, Rita Currier, of Old Town; four children, William Bailey, of Brooklyn, Conn., Brenda Welch of Whitefield, Bonnie Chow of Taipei, Taiwan, and Brian Bailey of Gray; a sister, Mary Bailey, of Topsham; eight grandchildren; and a nephew, Wayne Bailey of Hope Valley, R.I. Friends may call 9 a.m. Friday until time of service 10 a.m. at the Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town. Committal services with full military honors will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday at the West Bowdoin Cemetery, Bowdoin.
