BELFAST – William Parker Keene, 86, passed away Friday, Aug. 8, 2008, at Mount Saint Joseph’s Nursing Care Facility, Waterville. He was born Nov. 7, 1926, the son of Alfreda Ellis and Frank Henry Keene. Bill lived and worked his entire life on the family farms in Belfast. He delivered milk door-to-door and was the mechanic for the farm machinery. He sold Moline Tractors and Fox Forage equipment in the late ’40s through ’60s, as well as parts. William graduated from the University of Maine, Orono, in 1952 with a Bachelor of Science degree in animal husbandry and with Scholastic Honor of Alpha Zeta. He was a 50-year member of Belfast Masonic Lodge. He keenly enjoyed movies at Railroad Cinema and other movie theatres. William is survived by a loving niece, Alicia Keene Nurick and her husband, Michael Nurick; nephews, Jeffrey Ellis Keene and his wife, Melody Greenlaw Keene, Jonathan Frank Keene, and Ethan Keene Nurick; and sister-in-law, Marilyn Cross Keene. Bill was predeceased by his parents; and brother, John Wilson Keene. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
