BANGOR – Retired Sgt. William R. Van Dorn Sr., U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, 1969, and a Vietnam veteran, passed away peacefully Dec. 2, 2007, at a Bangor hospital. He was born March 28, 1952, in California. Bill is survived by his son, William R. Van Dorn Jr. and wife, Adrienne; daughter, La Donna Van Dorn and son-in-law, Anthony Ulmer; daughter, Kia Lally, five grandchildren, William, Jeffery, Cody, Sierra and Victor; sister, Marilyn and husband, Buck; brother, Bobby and wife, Debbie; brother, Danny; sister, Philomena and husband, Phillip; his fianc?e, Lori Lally; stepson, Mark; several nieces and nephews. He is now in heaven with his late wife of 25 years, Joyce. A funeral service will be held 4 p.m. Thursday at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden. Visiting hours will be 2 p.m. Thursday until time of service. Interment with military honors will be in the springtime.
