INDEPENDENCE, MO. – William T. Guthrie, 86, of Independence, Mo., passed away Sunday, Nov. 2, 2003, at Rosewood Health Center. William was born May 12, 1917, in Nebo, Ill., to Oral Reed and Mamie Belle (Pruett) Guthrie. He was a minister and missionary for the R.L.D.S. Church for 32 years before his retirement in 1979. He was currently attending the Farview Restoration Branch Church. He was married to Helen Jane McGaughy, who passed away in 2000. He is survived by a son, David Guthrie of Greenville, S.C.; two daughters, Judy Varisco of Holden and June Holstrum of Lexington, S.C.; a brother, Merle Guthrie of Independence, Mo.; 10 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel with burial in Mound Grove Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Friday at the chapel.
