BOUCHARD FORT KENT – William Wallace Bouchard, 87, loving husband of Irene P. Michaud for 61 years, died peacefully June 30, 2007, at his home. He was born Oct. 29, 1919, at Soldier Pond, the son of Oscar Bouchard and Chrisite Dionne. He grew up in a beautiful family of six brothers, Charlie, Edmond, Isaiah, Dominique, Gilman and Paul; and three sisters, Georgieanna, Lizzie and Ester. He attended Madawaska Training School and worked briefly in Waterville. Immediately after the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1942, he volunteered for the U.S. Army. He trained as a medical technician at O’Rielly General Hospital, Springfield, Mo. He served three years and nine months, following the front line battles through France, Luxembourg and Germany. He received a citation for outstanding performance as a medical technician against an enemy from July 8, 1944 to May 8, 1945. He returned home and married his wife, Irene Michaud, July 10, 1946, “my perfect wife.” He worked at C.C. Labrie for 14 years, then transferred to Pinkham Lumber, where he was service manager for 23 years. He was a life member and past commander of the VFW Lozier O’Grady Post No. 9609 in 1956, life time member of the Knights of Columbus, Council No. 0352, a 3rd and 4th degree member and a faithful navigator from 2001 to 2002, and recently was a member of the American Legion Post No. 133, all of Fort Kent. He was honored to serve the church as alter boy at funerals from 1984 to 2002. He was a Eucharistic minister and gave communion to the sick and at church from 1987 to 2002. He was a member of Worship & Spiritual and then in 1992, worked on the pastoral council and Church Life Commission for Father Jean Paul Labrie. He had five children, Ellery and wife, Mary Blanchette, of East Orland, Christine, who passed away at 11 years 4 months, Gloria and her husband, Phillip Villari, of Wayland, Mass., Marian and her husband, Tommie Thompson, of Lincoln, Vt., and Peter and his wife, Hiromi Kitahara, of Ayer, Mass.; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. In addition to his family, he is survived by his brother, Isaiah Bouchard; sister, Esther Boucher; and sisters-in-law, Blanche and Jeannine Bouchard.” I had a beautiful life”. Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. Tuesday until time of services at Daigle & Nadeau Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent. Committal services with full military honors and 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Honors will be after at the parish cemetery.
